High quality rice is guaranteed by controls made during the rice processing and by excellent micro-climate of the rice cultivation areas.  Long tradition of rice production and cultivation in Italy

The quality of the Grandi Riso production is guaranteed by rigorous controls made during the processing stages, best-of-breed modern technology, and qualified staff who closely monitor all the processing stages

We use rice predominantly from the lower Ferrarese and Venetia regions, and the vast Po delta area because their fertile soil and excellent mirco-climate produces very high quality rice. Po soil is rich in macro and micro elements and ideal for healthy rice cultivation; and the absence of infestation allows for a limited use of pesticides and herbicides. The alluvial soil and the close proximity of the sea gives the rice its distinctive sapid characteristic.

The tradition of rice cultivation in the Po delta goes back a long time. Traces where found in the Polesine territory a few decades after the diffusion of rice in the Padua plain - around 1450. Cultivation was strictly tied to the reclamation of land from the sea. Rice removed salt from the soil and allowed it to be used for rotational cultivation. Towards the end of the 1700s systematic agricultural methods began to be used for rice cultivation in the reclaimed areas and in the 1800s large scale production was achieved.

Grandi Riso gives so much attention to this ancient history and tradition that, in our production processes, we look for a synthesis between artisian rice processing with Amburgo-type machines and the sophisticated technology of optical sorting machines. The result is exceptional rice.
